Put your ego aside, become a friend. The first thing that you want to focus on after becoming a parent is listen to others. From your wife to your family and even your little one, you want to make sure that they can openly talk to you. Being a parent is not easy, you cannot do it alone, and to become a really great one, you need to become a great listener.

The second thing that you want to work on is your anger issues. When you become a parent, you are stressed all the time. You have to work more, you get to rest less, you have to make sure the baby is fine, and you have to deal with all the stress that life brings. We know it is not easy and we understand you, but that should not mean you should put all that anger towards your family members. That’s not how parents do it.

Kids love it when you listen to what they are saying, this makes you a friend, not a parent for some time. When they are not feeling well, when they are not in a good mood, or when something is bother them, you want to be there. Listen to what they want to say, try to act like a friend and guide them properly.

When your kids reach the 15 to 20 mark, they are going to try out a lot of things. Even things that you might not like, so instead of allowing them to go towards the wrong path, you want to guide them. As a parent, your goal should be guiding your kids so they can become the best versions of themselves.
